Thursday, April 16, 2015

FESTIVITIES to mark the royal wedding came to a close yesterday with the Majlis Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat and Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga at the Istana Nurul Iman.

The ceremonial gathering on its final day celebration for the royal wedding of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia (YAM) Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah Pengiran Hj Bolkiah saw hundreds of invited guests reciting Dikir as a final send off for the royal couple on the last day of the wedding festivities.

On April 6, HRH Crown Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, as personal representative of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam kicked off the wedding celebrations by initiating the Majlis Gendang Jaga-jaga at the Lapau.

At the start of the closing ceremony, invited guests sitting on rows of carpeted floors inside the brightly lit golden hall dubbed Baitur Rahmah faced the royal families and nobles at the centre, prior to the start of the Dikir performances.

The arrival of His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah was preceded by a group of three Awang-Awang carrying Dian (ceremonial candle), Tikar (a silk mat embroided with gilded threads) and Bintang Petian (a small round tray with teapot and two small cups made of wood).

Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Mohamad Hj Daud informed Chief of Adat Istiadat YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Aziz that the ceremony was ready to proceed.

YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah then conveyed the message to His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, who gave his approval to start the Majlis Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat and Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga.

A group of four Awang-Awang entered the hall carrying four Dian and placed it at the four corners around 13 religious officials led by Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Hj Emran Hj Kunchang to start the Dikir Syarafil Anam (Dikir Marhaban).

The hour-long dikir was later brought to a close with a 21-gun salute.

The ceremony was blessed with Doa Selamat read by the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awang Abdul Aziz Juned.

YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah then informed His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah that the ceremony had been smoothly carried out.

HRH then consented to deliver a sabda to conclude the ceremony.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were YAM Pengiran-Pengiran Cheterias, Cabinet Ministers, Members of the Privy Council, Deputy Ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin Manteris, Manteri Pedalaman, Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Members of the Legislative Council, Permanent Secretaries and heads of department.
